Delivering the Skills Agenda

Effective partnerships can be an excellent vehicle for skills development. The European funded project between North East Institute and Sligo Institute of Technology not only raises the skills levels of staff but it also provides great opportunity for these two organisations to respond to the needs of industry. This workshop will highlight the good practice developed in this project.
Delivering the 14-19 Curriculum

The 14-19 curriculum strategies differ across the four nations. This workshop will identify and share some of the lessons learned as policy in this area has developed and been implemented. Inputs from across the UK will help stimulate the debate. There will also be an opportunity to explore some of the issues that have been highlighted in the evaluation of the Vocational Enhancement Programme pilot which has involved all 16 FE colleges and over 100 schools.

Quality improvement across the Five Nations

The further education and training sector needs high quality leadership and management if it is to deliver effectively against government policy. This is an interactive workshop for those interested in hearing key findings from the CEL/LSDA NI FE middle manager action learning programme. Middle managers on the programme have been working on 14 action research projects on the sector. These are proving invaluable to colleagues in light of all the changes taking place in the sector presently. The workshop will be an opportunity to hear more about their findings and recommendations and "action learning" in action!
