Lecturers into industry

This initiative seeks to align the outputs of the further education sector with the needs of the Northern Ireland economy. Through structured placements, in industry lecturers have the opportunity to update their knowledge and skills which will be reflected in improved curriculum delivery.

Lecturers spend a minimum of six weeks, and up to twelve weeks, on placement with a suitable company, developing and completing a mutually beneficial project.

Technicians also have an opportunity for a 4-6 week placement to update their skills and to experience the latest equipment, technologies and software. This would provide a greater appreciation of how they can enhance student learning and support course teams and curriculum development. It would also provide an opportunity for the technician to further strengthen relationships with employers.

Lecturers into Industry are pleased to announce that a new area of Sport, Recreation, Health and Fitness has been added to the complement of programmes on offer to lecturers enabling them to enhance their staff development opportunities.  This has been supported strongly by SkillsActive the Sector Skills Council for the active leisure and learning sector which supports sport and fitness, playwork, the outdoors and caravan industries.
