It is anticipated that the 'Trainers into Industry' strand will be piloted in the two priority skills areas of Hospitality and Tourism and Construction. Funding for three placements of two weeks will be available in each of these areas. This is an excellent opportunity for organisations to encourage the professional development of staff; ensure teaching and learning reflects current industry practice; develop new or strengthen existing relationships with employers and support learners as they prepare for employment. See more information in Trainers Requirements Essential Skills Tutors into Industry For Essential Skills Tutors the new strand is open to lecturers who are involved in training learners enrolled on professional and technical provision. It aims to familiarise Essential Skills lecturers with a particular professional or technical area and to develop materials and approaches, so that learning programmes fully reflect the type of literacy and numeracy skills that will be expected of the trainees in the workplace. This will ensure that the teaching in Essential Skills is fully contextualised into the vocational area. Four funded placements are available for a period of 13 days: two weeks in industry plus a further three days to work on developing contextualised resources and materials. See more information in Essential Skills Tutors Requirements.
